It is my pleasure to invite you to Unani Day 2026, which is observed every year
on 11th February to commemorate the birth anniversary of Hakim Ajmal Khan and
the contributions and advancements made in Unani Medicine. This year, the
Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, is celebrating Unani Day 2026 by
organizing a two-day National Conference on Unani Medicine on 14th and 15th
February, (Saturday & Sunday) 2026, in a hybrid mode, under the aegis of the
Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM).
The theme of the National conference is “Innovation and Evidence in Unani
Practice.” The theme aptly connects the system’s glorious heritage with
its
forward looking vision. It not only pays tribute to the timeless wisdom and
foundational work of great scholars like Ibn Sina and Hakim Ajmal Khan, but also
propels Unani Medicine into the modern era. The conference will emphasize both
evidence and innovation, highlighting the need to blend traditional wisdom with
modern scientific progress. The conference will also address the growing demand
for rigorous research, clinical validation, and standardization, while also
inspiring creativity and technological advancement within the Unani system. This
integrated approach will enhance the credibility, global acceptance, and future
readiness of Unani Medicine- opening pathways for innovations such as novel drug
formulations, adoption of emerging technologies in research applications, and
holistic treatment models.
Unani Medicine, rooted in the principles of temperament (Mizaj) and humoral
theory, emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, and holistic healing
through lifestyle modification, dietary regulation, and preventive measures. In
the present era, Unani practice is progressively evolving through innovations in
research methodologies, standardization, clinical documentation and
outcome-based studies. The integration of evidence-based approaches is helping
bridge traditional knowledge with modern medical science, thereby improving
therapeutic effectiveness and public health relevance.
CCRUM continues to play a pivotal role in advancing Unani Medicine through
scientific research, academic programmes, capacity building, and fostering
collaboration between traditional and modern systems of medicine. By adopting
innovative ideas and evidence-based approaches across its activities, CCRUM is
strengthening the scientific foundation of Unani Medicine and ensuring its
meaningful contribution to a comprehensive and inclusive healthcare framework,
thus, contributing in the nation building and Viksit Bharat 2047.
In the context of rising chronic diseases, lifestyle disorders, and the growing
demand for safe and effective healthcare solutions, Unani Day 2026 will provide
an important platform to deliberate on the role of innovation and evidence in
strengthening Unani practice. The observance will focus on showcasing research
outcomes, best practices, and successful models that demonstrate the relevance
of Unani Medicine in modern healthcare. Key highlights of Unani Day 2026
include:
- Emphasis on Innovation: Showcasing advancements in Unani research, diagnostics, therapeutics, and clinical practice.
- Evidence-Based Practice: Discussions on strengthening scientific validation, clinical evidence, and documentation in Unani Medicine.
- Knowledge Exchange: A platform for academicians, researchers, clinicians, and policymakers to share experiences and insights.
- Enriching Sessions: Expert lectures and thematic discussions aligned with the theme of innovation and evidence in Unani practice.
This occasion aims to foster meaningful dialogue, promote scientific temper, and
reinforce the relevance of Unani Medicine in addressing contemporary health
challenges. We warmly invite your participation and support in making Unani Day
2026 a meaningful and impactful event, contributing to the future growth of
evidence-based and innovative Unani practice.
We look forward to your presence and insights at this prestigious event.
